Channel Dredging

Dear Neighbours,

Extremely low water levels, particularly at the entrance of our channel, are making navigation increasingly difficult for property owners who rely on water access.

To address this, Amie and Ray Ferris of Old Cut Boat Livery have secured the necessary dredging permit from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA), Long Point Provincial Park (LPPP) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF). This approval enables dredging of the channel entrance to restore safe, reliable access for all users.

We are reaching out to all property owners who benefit from channel access to Long Point Bay to invite them to participate in the cost of the dredging project. The work will benefit everyone who accesses the water through the channel, improving navigation, maintaining property values, and enhancing property usability.

To help make this project possible, we are asking each property owner who benefits from channel access to Long Point Bay to contribute a minimum of $300 toward the dredging expense. This shared contribution will help cover the costs of equipment, labour, and the environmental compliance required by the permit.

Granger Excavating has been hired to complete the dredging.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this request and for being part of a community that values access to the bay and looks out for one another. This is a practical, shared solution to a shared problem, and with everyone’s support, we can restore the channel and ensure reliable access. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out—your participation is genuinely appreciated.
